Group 4 Artefact: PADLET
With regards to this topic's readings, I particularly enjoyed the research of Mizuto Iko (2018: 2020). Particularly inspiring were her discussions on how connectivity is now so abundant, and how the way we engage, incentivise and inspire our students needs to adapt. I enjoyed her project of creating spaces that students are already engaged in - ie: Minecraft gaming groups, where her principles of connected learning can come alive:
Production-centred,
Sponsorship of student interest,
with a shared purpose,
Along multiple pathways of entry and engagement.
Our group has really streamlined our process really well: The leader of the week/Sonja uploads the Google Doc for the topic, and we select the readings for which we would like to write up a short summary, that answers the aims of the scenario/topic. This is often done before we meet for the first time to chat about the way forward for the week's artefact on a Tuesday. This has worked well, and it often works out that the readings on which we focused often make up the sections for which we are responsible on our artefact.
This week we chose to use Padlet to construct our artefact. It is a tool I have used multiple times before with students - it works really well and they love it! Once again, our group worked really seamlessly - adding our bits beforehand, and then getting together for a hilarious session of compilation, arrangement, and selection of gifs that had us in fits of giggles. I am so enjoying working with our group - we each have strengths that we bring to the table, and we seem to 'get' each other really well so the sessions run really seamlessly.
I am looking forward to the next topic - Designing Online Courses, as I feel the previous topics have been building up our knowledge base to be able to accommodate this next step.
Bring it on!
