This opportunity to join this course came about as I have been considering how our higher education learners have been adjusting to online learning. As we spend more time engaging with them online, it made me think of the way we design learning opportunities and expect our learners to engage - we need an overhaul....
Cue the IOL FLO course!
I was excited to join, but not really sure what it would entail...
Many questions...
Would I have enough time to meaningfully engage in the course? Or would my feeble attempts to keep up be dwarfed by others' engagement?
What was expected of me? Would I have a lot of readings and videos to watch? Did I have to present my own learning evidence?
Would other people in the group know way more about online learning, and then I'd feel incompetent? I've had a 5 year break from lecturing and recently got back into it - would this break be very evident? Have I lost touch and be shown up by my more experienced colleagues?
What expectations do I have for the course?
Hopefully we are exposed to some exciting new ways of thinking, fun tools to play around with, and be challenged to try out new things...all while meeting some
cool colleagues a long the way!
What do I hope to achieve?
I hope to learn more about course design and PBL learning, and gain a better understanding of learners’ experiences of online learning, and how to support them better.
I look forward to following how you experience this journey. I resonant so much with your questions and definitely feel that the pool of expertise is great and there will be much learning happening.
